Wonderful Bates Families-this year our Holiday Help will look a little differently. We will have a giving tree with specific items needed for families at Bates. To help our fellow families in need, you can pick up a tag off our tree starting Friday, November 21st, or donate to our Coins for Christmas fundraiser the week of December 1st through the 5th.
If you are a family who would like holiday assistance this year, please reach out to our counselor, Julie Smith, no later than this Friday-November 14th.

You can reach Mrs. Smith at 801-452-4598, or jusmith2@wsd.net.
Thank you in advance for your amazing generosity in supporting our Bison Nation!!!

🇺🇸 Bates Elementary Honors Our Heroes! 🇺🇸

This Veterans Day, Bates Elementary students came together to honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
As the students looked up to the flag flying high above Cold Water Canyon they beautifully sang patriotic songs and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. It was a moving tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our veterans.

Thank you to all who have served! We salute you today and every day.

Today, as we observe Veterans Day, the students, staff, and families of Bates Elementary pause to offer our deepest gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Your commitment, courage, and sacrifice are the foundations of our freedom. We are dedicated to teaching our students the profound meaning of your service.

We remember and honor the brave individuals who protect our nation. Thank you, Veterans.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Halloween is quickly approaching, and so is our annual Halloween parade! The Halloween
parade is a very popular event at Bates Elementary and draws a large crowd of families
and friends each year. We recognize that holding a parade presents a challenge in our
ongoing commitment to keeping our students safe. To minimize risk, we ask you to follow
the guidelines below.

● If you would like to observe the parade, please go to the back playground on the
blacktop. Caution tape will be placed to show the route that students will come
out of the school and enter back into the school.

● When - Friday, October 31st at 8:45 am.

● Please help your student adhere to the following Halloween Costume guidelines:
○ Students should arrive at school dressed in their costumes.
○ Costumes should reflect our school and district policies.
■ Full-face masks and weapons (real or simulated) are prohibited.
■ If your student’s costume requires face paint, please minimally apply it
so your student's face is recognizable. Full face paint is prohibited.
■ Because students of all ages will see your child’s costume, please select
one to wear to school that doesn’t include blood or gore.
■ Please leave handheld accessories at home. (Too often on a busy day,
these items become lost.)
■ Please avoid costumes that are culturally inappropriate, stereotypical,
or racially insensitive.

● We ask parents to only take pictures of their student(s).

Please understand these guidelines are put in place for the safety of our students. If you
have any specific questions about costumes or the events of that day, please contact the
office for additional clarification.

We look forward to celebrating this fun event with you! The students and faculty at Bates
Elementary are fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive community. We are very
appreciative of all the big and little things you do daily to support our school.
