We are proud to house one of the largest elementary school libraries in the entire district, with around 16,000 books. But it’s not just about the square footage—it’s about the thousands of adventures, mysteries, and discoveries waiting on these shelves for our students every single day.

From floor-to-ceiling favorites to cozy reading nooks, there is a space for every Bison to find their next favorite book. 📖

Our school had a visit from Dr. Bradley McCann - a former student at Bates, practicing doctor, and children's book author . It was an engaging experience that left our students both inspired and informed. His unique ability to bridge the gap between his medical background and his creative storytelling offered a dual-educational event that was both meaningful and entertaining.

Books by Dr. Bradley McCann include:
Your Brain: A Fun Approach to The Nervous System
Your Heart: A Fun Approach to the Cardiovascular System
Your Stomach: A Fun Approach to the Digestive System
Your Lungs: A Fun Approach to the Respiratory System

🌟 It’s Kindness Week at Bates Elementary! 🌟
Hey Bates Families! This week, we’re celebrating what makes our school the best place to be: Kindness. We have a full lineup of themed days to help us remember to look out for one another and spread some joy.

Check out the schedule below so you’re ready to celebrate:

🗓️ The Kindness Lineup:
Tuesday: "You’ve Got a Friend in Me" Day 🤠🚀

Grab your cowboy boots or space gear! Dress like your favorite Toy Story character to celebrate the power of friendship.

Wednesday: "Kindness is Warm & Cozy" Day ☕️🧸

Being kind gives us all the fuzzies. Wear your warmest pajamas or coziest clothes to school.

Thursday: Look For ways to show kindness 🍎🎒

Let’s look for ways to be kind by seeing things from a different perspective. Students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students!

Friday: "Crazy About Kindness" Day 🤪

We’re ending the week strong with crazy hair or mismatched clothes.

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

We can't wait to see everyone’s creativity on display. Let’s make it a week to remember at Bates!
