The Bates Family is sad to announce that our counselor, Mrs. Smith, is leaving Bates Elementary after 7 years of dedicated service. In her time here, she has impacted the lives of roughly 1,400 children-learning every student's name and helping them through life's hardest moments. She also extended her care to our community by organizing holiday food and gift drives for families in need. Thank you, Mrs. Smith, for everything! We wish you the best at your next school.

On Saturday, April 25, students from 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 9th grade proudly represented the Weber School District Bates Elementary and North Ogden Junior High Chinese Dual Language Immersion programs at Safe Kids Day.

In front of thousands of students and families, our students shared the beauty and energy of the Chinese language and culture through Chinese songs, kung fu, fan dance, and the traditional art of face-changing. While the community came together to learn important safety lessons, they also experienced the vibrant spirit of our Chinese programs.

We are so proud of our students for representing our schools with confidence, talent, and cultural pride. Events like this show that language learning is not only academic, but also joyful, meaningful, and full of life.
