3-School Safety Plan Review – Laura Wright

General discussion on overall safety plans for school.  For information see, Standard Response Protocol on the main Bates website (Under “Parents”).  Every Weber school in the district has adopted this protocal.  Additional discussion occurred on school parking lot and drop off safety.  Some discussion included question on drop off locations (potentially limiting south side of 3100 drop off), U-turns on 3100, and placement of school zones in relation to school.

4-Review of Student Data – Laura Wright

Student data is limited and confusing due to COVID.  No end of year (EOY) data existed from 2020 due to shutdown.  In addition, influxes of new students and students coming in and out (due to say quaratines) further convolute the data.  Unfortunately there is no clear way to understand those influences on the results particularly for such a limited time period.  There is only mid-year data from last year due to end of quarter school being shutdown.  Any available data however was still reviewed by the council.  Pathways of progress (Dibels scores) has a state goal of 60%.   Bates average was 55% for 2021 and 57% for 2020.  The Bates 1st thru 3rd grade average was 64% for  2021 and 57% for 2020.  This data only compared the beginning and mid year data.

Grade on benchmark (missing May/EOY data) showed a confusing picture with no clear trends although overall scores seemed low.  No math data was reviewed as there was not sufficient data with the missing EOY.

5-Budget Information – Laura Wright

Aide cost = $21095 as of Dec 31, 2020

Technology lease for Chromebooks = (budgeted $28000) actual value spent to date not yet determined

Supplies = $192.91 as of Dec 31, 2020

Update to be provided at later date when information becomes available.

6-Discussion of new plan moving forward

2021-2022 Plan: Faculty leadership feedback was preference to continue with similar trends/plan.  This year, each grade level does have an aide which has better favorable with the teachers and students.  Last years’ plan and template for this year’s plan will be sent out by Laura in February for council to preliminarily review before March meeting.

Motion: To adjourn meeting at 4:45 pm.

Made by Tiffany Godfrey

2nd by Crystal Giordano
