3-Breif review of current Corona virus video – Laura Wright
Laura Wright showed the current Corona virus video being shown to all Weber School district schools. Video explains best practices to prevent spread of disease (hand washing, wiping surfaces, not touching face, etc.). See cdc.gov for more information.

4-Finalizing of plan for 2020-2021 school year and discussion of TSSA
Laura Wright started off with a discussion on the computer lab used during CLAP rotations. As a result of all kids in the school having access to individual chrome books, there is discussion on discontinuing the use of the computer during that portion of the CLAP rotation. This is because technology is now more integrated into curriculum and classroom with the chrome books. There was some discussion with what types of activities to engage the students in during that time for rotation. Surveys were sent to the teachers with suggestions including a mindfulness session, math/science Olympiad activities, math fluency activities (including flash cards and games), LEGO/block/shapes design time, or cooperative play activities. Most teachers were in support of these various options and later decisions will determine the actual usage of this rotation time which may include a combination of the options mentioned above.

Council discussed the 2020-2021 school year plan. There are two goals associated with the plan. One goal addresses literacy proficiency and the other addresses math proficiency. These goals integrated the technology goal from last year into it as the technology supports both the literacy and math proficiency goals. As mentioned in previous council meeting discussion, the plan did include items from the previous year’s plan/budget but additional budget allowed for expansion of the technology repairs and maintenance budget from the previous year. This was requested to help phase in costs associated with increased technology used in the school including the beginning replacement of aging SMART boards. The finalized plan will be posted and available on the school’s website after approval.

Motion: To accept the proposed 2020-2021 school year plan with the adjustments recommended in Council Meeting. (Finalized plan with Council adjustments will be posted on school website after approval)
Made by Tiffany Godfrey. 2nd by Marjean Swanson. Voting was unanimous – there were no oppositions for plan approval.

TSSA money options and goals were discussed although TSSA money and process has not yet been formally defined. There were two goals similar to the school plan; one goal for literacy and one for math. The TSSA money will cover similar costs to the previous year’s plan, except $7,988 in costs from last year were identified as not required again for the upcoming year. Options for how to allocate the additional budget were discussed. Teachers were surveyed for potential options. Favorable options included teacher development resources (podcasts/training), an additional aide for recess, STEM training, STEM materials, and lower class sizes. Teachers were asked about the potential for summer training but the responses were more mixed than some of the other options. No official decisions were made yet to determine the TSSA allocation.

4-Open Positions for next year
There are 4 parent positions opening for the upcoming school year Community Council. Laura Wright will send out more information in April on the upcoming vacancies.

Motion: To adjourn meeting at 4:45pm.
